Ted but did you keep in mind the fact that it was not considered over yet. Communist Revolution in Russia created an enemy out of ally. Rise of communism in Germany with immediate "spiritual" support from Russia. Economic aid from US would make it possible for communists to stay in power. So what US to do? BTW Then there would be a real alliance between Germany and Russia. Of course that was only one of many likely scenarios? and, of course, not to forget that US was involved in Russian civil war all the way to actually sending troops from the north. those minor things do add up -Albert
