Well, using pension funds is not the same as using taxpayer dollars, since they represent contributions and diversification decisions by participants.

I of course have no knowledge of what the government does or does not do in these matters, but from the perspective of a guy just trying to trade the action as it unfolds some things look mighty fishy. NDX and the Naz futures broke a year to date low today, the lowest level since late October, and there was barely any attempt to push it lower. It should have cost somebody many many thousands of futures contracts to keep this thing from falling apart, yet there was barely a run at wiping out the bids when the new lows were made. Running it back up was a piece of cake.

Now if I were suspicious, I would have to assume that not only is somebody willing to step in and buy, but those who might ordinarily sell under such circumstances for some reason just are not doing it.. you don't suppose there is some agreement between parties do you? woosh.. woosh.. woosh.. Did a black helicopter just go by? <ggg>
