re: I think the highlighted part explains the difference
how come a have strange feeling that Ted realized long time ago that he was wrong. It is like signing temporary cease of fire agreement makes Palestinians and Israelis allys against Hisbulah.

and it is not even that; it is a clear cut no

I think the highlighted part explains the difference. It was a non-aggression agreement, not an alliance. non-aggression agreement is less than an alliance.

Joe, this whole argument is so specious in borders on the ridiculous. Originally, Albert freaked out because I said the Stalin was not Mr. Wonderful; in fact he was not much better than Hitler having made nearly 7 million people, including many Jews "disappear". I also added that at one point that Germany and Russia were allied during WW II. It is the least important aspect of the point that I was trying to make. If you all want to say that the pact between Germany and Russia was less than an alliance, so be it.

Nonetheless, Stalin was a cold blooded killer....if not a match to Hitler, then certainly from the same family. That does not mean that all Russians are a-holes nor that all Germans are bad........which was also part of my original point.

Damn, if this can happen to what was intended as a minor point in a conversation, I can understand why Israel and Palestine can't make any headway. ;~))
