Wait a minute! That article was about destruction of evidence that would have resulted in a LEGAL decision to allow Elian to stay.

And at the time of the Elian business, the Administration had no idea that the 2000 election would turn on FLorida. So without a crystal ball, they could not have made the correct political decision. If you wish to argue that way, I think it can be argued that in fact they DID make a political decision. As I remember, a majority of the public favored returning the kid. Maybe that's why that email needed to be destroyed.
