Lee, CBS is putting a little different spin on it.

GE profit dips, revenue falls short (GE) By Steve Gelsi
General Electric (GE) posted first-quarter net income of $2.5 billion, or 25 cents per share, compared to $2.6 billion, or 26
cents per share in the year-ago period. Earnings before required accounting changes were $3.5 billion, or 35 cents per
share, up from $3 billion, or 30 cents per share last year. The number matched the figure of 35 cents in a survey of
analysts by Thomson Financial/First Call, but was shy of the estimate of 40 cents by Multex. Revenue of $30.5 billion
were about the same as in first quarter 2001, but short of the Wall Street forecast of $33.7 billion, according to Multex.
Shares of GE rose 75 cents to $37.20 on Wednesday ahead of the report.
