I must admit it amazes me how universal the consensus has become, despite the constant barrage of criticism and accusation from pundits and pundit wannabees who accuse the rest of the world of hating Jews, loving terrorism, and caving in to oil interests.

A cynic might well respond that yes, hating Jews, loving terrorism (as long as you can safeguard yourself by keeping it pointed at the other guy), and caving in to oil interests is indeed, quite widespread.

I should also note the the pundits you are referring to operate on the American Right. They are almost completely absent from Europe, save for a few voices in Britain and Germany. They are, needless to say, completely absent from the Arab world.

I think the European media coverage, which paints a picture of innocent, desperate Palestians, led by their moderate but hapless leader Yasser Arafat (who would stop the extremists if only he could), ground under the heel of the war criminal Ariel Sharon, has also had a lot to do with forming European opinion.
