Keith,

<< More generally, as TDMA companies like ATT introduce GSM/EDGE in 800 MHZ >>

AWS & Rogers AT&T are introducing GSM GPRS (upgradable to EDGE) 100% in 1900 MHz.

Eventually they will expand EDGE into 800 MHz.

Cingular (and Telecel, Mexico) will be first to introduce EDGE in 800 MHz.

<< What expectations do you have for CDMA1XEV DO in 800 MHZ? >>

From North American IS-136 carriers .... absolutely none.

Its tough enough to clear spectrum for GSM while operating IS-136 (and CDPD) and in the case of Cingular & Telecel, AMPS.

They need to be concerned about introducing another technology in licensed cellular/PCS spectrum like they need a hole in the head, particularly a technology that reduces voice capacity (even though it increases data capacity).

Verizon, if they go forward with DO beyond trial (and I assume they will) will have to introduce it in 800 MHz because they have more licensed spectrum in 800 MHz than 1900 MHz, and in their northeast stronghold they are essentially an 800 MHz carrier.

US Cellular eventually could introduce DO in 800-MHz but initially they'll have their hands full with clearing TDMA to make room for 1xRTT, since they do not have multi-mode handsets to ease the transition. They are a more likely candidate for DV eventually.
