advertising GOLD more and more on TV!!!! I don't know about GOLD but way too many ads that used to focus on stock diversification now talk about asset allocation. In light of SEC, NASD and state attorney general's actions, institutions are forced to recommend that you get out of large equity holdings now. Last thing they want is to get sued because most customers are indicating in their primary investment objective is that they want asset protection not growth as primary objective. What choice can brokerages give based upon the current high risk involved in holding stocks and their customers stated investment objectives.
