Bharti forms group to evaluate WLL services

EW DELHI: Bharti has constituted a group to evaluate the possibility of offering CDMA based Wireless in Local Loop services, which is expected to come out with its study in a month's time.

"We have set up a group to study if WLL services make sense for us, and the study is expected to be completed within a month," Bharti Chairman and group managing director, Sunil Bharti Mittal, said.

He hastened to add the company believed that GSM scored over CDMA by a ratio of 9:1, and said that GSM technology was "superior".

On the financial performance of the company for the fiscal ended March 31, 2002, Mittal said that Bharti Group expected to register revenues of upto Rs 2000 crore for 2001-02, while Bharti Tele-ventures' revenue was likely to be about Rs 1,600 crore for the period.

"We expect that the Bharti Group would record revenues between Rs 1900 crore to Rs 2000 crore," Mittal added.
