Microsoft has two choices:

1) Trying to stay compatible with mono on Linux by providing the necessary information to the project under reasonable terms, or
2) Getting incomaptible with mono on Linux.

No matter what they do, C# will be used for projects on Linux that do not relate to Microsoft in any way.
