Our grandfathers were all racist, to varying degree, and their grandfathers far more so ... go back not too far from there, and you find a permanent state of war between tribes, where you can count on only your familiars, and often not then ... sort of like some SI threads 'Chaim, he would teach us business ... ' - lol .... but the last paragraph did taint that post a tich, yes ... yesterday on hearing a Twain quote here i dusted off the old copy of Letters from the Earth, one-third through it now, too bad the stories are so long for typing, and don't excerpt well, they're quite a propos .... maybe Project Gutenberg has some of them ... LftE is worth reading, qualifies imho as a wholly-book, long as it's not missing pages from a term in the throne library
