That the Bible should be completely disavowed because there are things in it we find abhorrent today?
Isn't that a good reason for disavowing, say, Mein Kampf? Hitler had what he and the Nazi Party considered Noble Reasons for favoring that book and their viewpoint.

Hey, you guys claimed the book, we didn't stick you with it. Once you do that, you take the consequences.

No. I don't think that is the point, Poet. Perhaps only, that denying what is common knowledge, and which, as you say, does not need to invalidate a person's belief, is perhaps an unneccesary challenge. We all tend to dig in our heels when we are challenged, and I saw nothing to be gained by allowing the implication to stand that I was a liar for saying that there was racism.

I am sorry you were offended; but I felt that the only other option I had was to offend myself--which it seems I managed somewhat to do, anyway...<g>
