Interesting, most of my information was gleaned as background notes on a biography of Vladimir son of Rus (or Russon, i.e Russian) who ended the pagan practices. He interviewed the Rabbis of Khazaria to see if that religion would better suit the people but for reasons that included his mother coming from Bizantium he chose Greek Orthodox.
