I think the macro issue for IBM is revenue growth. With it comes better margins and earnings. I don't see much potential for this until the IT spending issue improves along with a better economy. With the Enron debacle and a move towards fuller disclosure and the fact that a lot of the financial flexibility has been used up I think the upcoming CC is going to have to level set a different expectation but I don't see it trading lower than the high 70s if that. Once the CC is absorbed and a few days go by for the analysts to muck things up the settling out process will give a long term buying opportunity and with any late Spring visibility improvements it could rapidly push 100 again. But there are going to be a lot of stocks that fit that scenario with better percentage returns so IBM is just one idea among many.
I am not in IDT or NTOP any more. Jonas is too slick for me to hold his stocks for other than some kind of momentum move. But they will both survive and ultimately thrive again, just don't know when.
