JFD, I agree completely and I think someone in the administration does as well.

In the past two days I see evidence that the government is trying to help out a bit.

1. Bush states that the way options are treated by GAAP is fine and should be left unchanged (that bill will never get out of committee, IMO).

2. The SEC (after someone noticed the market nearing the brink) quickly made it clear that they weren't going to pursue whatever it was they saw at IBM.
