So if I am renting MSFT is responsible for any gliches with THEIR program. They better start hiring some software techs.

MSFT has the plan, has had the plan, it's one of the cornerstone hopes of their new marketspeak, .NET. But, subscription pricing for desktop applications and OSes will cause the end of its death grip on desktop applications. Market forces will make it so. Other programs exist that can read an write documents in Word and Excel format. They are not worth the trouble until Microsoft prices itself out of the market ala Sun. Some of these Office substitutes run on Linux -- today! Microsoft will pull back from these pricing schemes when large numbers of customers threaten to desert them as has happened in UK and Korea.

Did you read the news today that Amex and other online merchants have effectively shelved HailStorm. Microsoft must pick its competitors wisely. Some have market strength and will fight back.
