It is amazing that the idea is so accepted. It makes you wonder how far back we can go, and have it still be SOP ? To the stone age? I'd be curious to see where the pain threshhold is for middle America to call for real action, instead of Geopolitical Nintendo overseas, and for real Homeland security, instead of hide-and-seek Ridge afraid to speak in a forum where he's held accountable and asked questions he has to answer. The administration's outrage starts with the acceptance that "there's evil in the world!", and then goes about using all the old usual favorite chesnuts as the fix, the increased military, spooks, media control, trillions in debt to make it all so easy to pay for, and pretty soon, oil price doubling to "show them M.E. a thing or two!" Instead, all the details of who, what, where, and why should be flooding out beginning at 10am on Sept 11th, including black box tapes, CIA actions that may give a clue, etc. Those without something to hide could withstand scrutiny. Intead, they bring an iron foot down on any scrutiny whatsoever, in an unprecedented series of actions to hide documents even going back to the Reagan/Bush Senior days with the CIA and Afghanistan.
