ARM to Codevelop 3D Graphics for Wireless Devices

Electronics Weekly -- Electronic News, 4/11/2002

ARM Ltd. is collaborating with Imagination Technologies Group plc and software firm Superscape to develop 3D graphics for wireless devices.

The agreement involves Imagination’s PowerVR MBX graphics core and Superscape’s Swerve 3D software, with both technologies designed to be used specifically with the Cambridge, England, company’s cores.

The tie-up means Swerve developers will be able to use hardware 3D acceleration features similar to those available on game consoles or PCs.

"This is the next logical step in the evolution of 3D content for ARM core-based mobile platforms," said John Metcalfe, VP of business development at PowerVR Technologies, in a statement. "Using Swerve and PowerVR MBX will allow customers to develop graphically superior next generation mobile devices."
