Oh man, no offense but you're clueless on this one! I suppose MSFT bought or stole Windows Operating System versions. Now how did they become a monopoly? You are correct. They bought DOS. Their DOS monopoly was gained through an amazingly one-sided exclusive deal with IBM, who was fighting its own antitrust prosecution at the time and needed to give somebody else control of the software (not to mention that IBM had no idea how valuable the PC market might become). Windows was a port of Mac OS to DOS, and was only legal because Microsoft's lawyers at that time were craftier than Apple's. Their license agreement with Apple allowed Microsoft to incorporate major portions of Apple's Mac OS source code directly into Windows. What about Excel or Office products. Who was it that they competed against? Microsoft's abuse of its DOS monopoly in crushing other application developers has been well documented. I think MSFT became the powerhouse that they are because they opened a can of whooop-ass against their competition. And no doubt you will continue to think that, contradictory facts notwithstanding. Who was it that they competed against? somebody needs to read up on a little history, yes MSFT STOLE the windows GUI..... have you not been around very long? MSFT admited it took the windows GUI from apple........ in a court of LAW in front of a judge..... and EXCEL and OFFICE are direct copies of competitors products..... are you surprised? if so, i'd suggest some reading up on the subject... and a little history wouldn't do you no harm either..... jon.
