Beyond legends people need to believe, the problem remains :

Saddam does not believe in divinities, but prays for TV.
Arafat " " " .......................................
Sharon " " "............. and I ignore how he TV's.

And on these days there are only a few people on this planet that have a clear analysis of the whole ME situation and possible explosion. All of them are in the top US UK administration, but one, possibly, Putin.

How ironic :

It starts to look like the world on 1942...

I think you're confused about Israel. Over 80% of Israeli Jews are 'secular', non-religious. For that matter, you seem to think the hawk - dove line = the religious - secular line. It doesn't. All you can say is that a higher proportion of hawks are religious. There are plenty of secular hawks, who base their hawkishness on their assessment of the true intentions of Arafat and the Arab regimes, and Israel's self-defense requirements.

There are also, by the way, a whole bunch of ultrapious, anti-Zionist Jews in Jerusalem, who think that Jews should have waited for the Messiah to come before founding a state.
