<<My response to how to end wars was in the abstract, not specific to the Israelis and the Palestinians.>>

Here is one that is specific. Send the big bombers out of Missouri and tell all of Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan you gotta work it out before the planes get within 400 miles when they will launch. Other wise there will be no land to fight over or people to fight. Iraq will be a costal country on the Sea.

Well, this is an unusually intractable war, IMO, because of the perceived level of injustice on both sides. The Jews feel the world owes them a safe haven after 3,000 years of persecution culminating in the holocause; the Palestinians resent having their homes stolen from them by by the Jews and their supporters.

Problem with missiles is, who do you whoosh them at? Suicide bombers are just part of the regular population. Israel has pretty much destroyed all the PA targets already.Do you really recommend whooshing a missile at apartments, markets, schools, hospitals in the Palestinian areas every time a suicide bomber blows him or her self up?

Give each family a brick colonial on a quarter acre with a TV in
each room, an interesting job, good schools, I'd bet there would be plenty of takers.

We can't even provide that to our own population. Who, and how, is going to provide it to the Palestinians? And what jobs? There aren't any, there are limited skills, there are limited natural resources, there is limited education -- what jobs??

I don't think Israelis would accept green cards anywhere -- they want to be united in a land of their own, not strangers in strange lands for the rest of their lives. Another diaspora?

Intractable. That's the big problem.

I appreciate your trying to solve this issue, but I think you need to try a lot harder. <bg>
