A response by bouncing the rubble in Afghanistan is pre-ordained by the nature of the attack. An emotional response by the American people is required, right or wrong. And it was done, up to a point. Perhaps you didn't notice the story that OBL was warned, magically, 3 hours before an attack on his cave. Who did this? Was it a mole? Was it our intention to keep him alive for future activity? Who was it that listened into OBL's private conversations to his mother, among other people, and played them to visiting Senators? Why were the planes hijacked and flying around for an hour before jets scrambled, and why were lies told about the lack of F16s, when they had been earlier reported... More to the point, why was any investigation into the massive, criminal failures of the CIA allowed to be quashed? Who in their right mind would fail to investigate the group that claims to be in charge of information that bears directly on our security? Why is Ridge allowed to refuse an appearance before open Congressional hearing? What is not pre-ordained is the secrecy and "you citizens work for the government" attitude, continuing to today, of all of the surrounding contributing factors to the attack, to "blowback" begun 20 years ago, to simple things like immediate release of black box tapes, phone tapes, etc., all under the phony guise of "national security". Many other such issues are suppressed by a secrecy-obsessed administration, with what appear to be extremely feeble excuses. We are asked "to believe!". I'll believe what I can confirm from disinterested sources. And I'll leave my faith in the Almighty, not the all-powerful central government.
