Hard to say. It requires some engineering to consider what significance there is. A good crash expert, supplied with any unusual structural characteristics of the Pentagon might have a good explanation, as to where the wings evaporated to <gg>. There are similar questions about the speed and arc of the two WTC planes, and the question of (a) whether these terrorists could have controlled the planes that accurately, and (b) when there was an autopilot-takeover system installed. The recordings of the tower tapes would provide a clue, in the cockpit chatter (hey! wtf! I can't control this thing! etc.)

I was struck by scenario that unfolded, as stated by Tim Russert, live, in front of the White House, that Bush Senior was in the WH at the time of the attack, and that Junior was kept out. Also that the damage was opposite Rumsfeld's office, and Rummy had enough composure to run over and help pull bodies out. Of course, that's probably what Rummy would do in any case (per Henry K's supposed description of him as the 'most ruthless man he'd ever met'), a few bodies wouldn't bother him. Then again, if anything fishy was going on, he'd be the guy to have onsite to control it.

In following up Bush Senior's whereabouts the morning of 9/11, from the White House he flew to Wisconsin, had a 10 minute appearance on a golf course, and went to a scheduled oil industry speech, which was televised. The remarkable thing I thought as I watched was Senior's composure and oddly serene smile as he talked, mostly about making sure his son wasn't criticized for not flying back to DC.

This was a day after the attack. I thought it was a bit more serious than Bush appeared to take it. Suspicous lout that I am, I would have liked it better if he had talked about, oh, I don't know, maybe the safety of our country? Stuff like that.

Sure had some cheery faces in oil-industry crowd, tho' I bet. Their ship was about to come in. Even more irritating was the orgiastic reception at the CIA a month later, when Junior was all but kissed and hugged by Tenet.
I would have liked that better if instead of everyone giggling and smiling, Tenet would have been put in jail, with the investigation top to bottom.
