Hi Scott,

Clappy I will say that I do like your hometown newspaper...they are quite liberal and I don't always agree with the editorials BUT they just won another 1/2 dozen Pulitzer Prizes

I like them too.

They do see things from the liberal side of the fence perhaps but they don't hold a candle to the Village Voice in terms of being liberal.

villagevoice.com

To me, that is what "liberal" is.

I see The Times being perhaps more Democraticly slanted than Liberal.
Perhaps that is what causes the confusion here on the Porch when we begin throwing labels at each other.

I see liberal as something more left than where I'm standing. Tim and others think otherwise. I don't know who's right or wrong. I don't mind though. There is nothing in The Village Voice that I find to be incredibly offensive.

Is the Washington Post considered liberally slanted or are they closer to being neutral, in your opinion?

For some reason when I think of writers, I tend to lump them all into the Democratic/Liberal side. However there are many such as George Gilder that are clearly conservative, that I enjoy reading.

I'm not certain I would enjoy Bill O'Reilly's books though.
Even though he often seems to be well thought out, he tends to be too much about himself. He sort of pats his own back in a way in most of the interviews I've seen him in.
Same with Rush Limbaugh.
I like Gilder's approach better.

I understand Phil Donahue is going to be competing head to head with O'reilly in the same timeslot on CNBC. It should be interesting. I used to enjoy Phil's points of view.
I'm glad he will be back. Hopefully he will get a lot of good Republicans to discuss issues with.

-Clappy
