rydex and profunds are the only ones I know for "inverse" investing and maybe targetting -2x or -x -- i.e. and perhaps an anti-index approach is best if you want a general purpose vehicle -- Rydex has temporarily lowered its min investment -- down from 25k to 10k. If you researrch this -- please let me know if you find out about others you find more suitable -- I would like to do this in my son's college fund. Was in BEARX for a little while ...

Joan, IMO Hussman Strategic Growth fund (HSGFX) finance.yahoo.com may worth a look. Related links: hussman.net http://hsgfx:reciprocal@www.hussman.com/hussman/members/updates/latest.htm

Hi Joan, I like the Rydex URSA fund mainly because it is the only index fund with negative slippage. They short S&P futures and invest the excess margin in bonds so they collect interest and the futures premium which more than offsets their management fees. Last year they returned about 5% over index although with lower rates this year they probably won't do quite as well now. -Still the best deal though.

potomacfunds.com

Profunds, Potomac, and Rydex all have inverse funds.
Ultrabear and Ultrashort Profunds will go inverse 2 x.

GRZZX is a bear fund. Not sure how good it is though. Do you not like bearx for some reason?

Mutual funds are very limited in what they can do by their charter [prospectus, whatever].... their almost always clown long.

I see you already have seven responses, but maybe someone missed this URL:

bearmarketcentral.com

The main reason I use BEARX is that it's the only bear fund handled by Quick and Reilly where we have our IRAs. The only way I know to go short in those IRAs.
