Spring forward and fall back: American way forward, paki way backward The shadow boxer moves like a butterfly and stings like a bee and speaks mile a minute on the virtues of democracy. The general addresses a rented crowd American way forward and Paki way backward Spring is in the air in pakistan: yes, the time is set one hour forward, a tribute to America in a small way. But the fall back is more important than spring forward, because some unions and Govt. associations read a script written by Musharaff that they will support his one-man shadow-boxing pseudoelection, called referendum. The Govt. workers were bused back and forth with full day's pay at Govt. expense to attend Musharraff meeting, where he addressed the rented crowd in full regalia. The general spoke in Urdu, which most of the people didn't understand; but they cheered the leader, knowing full well that any jeer at this farce would mean loss of jobs.
