You are correct, I was referring to the point that many Palestinians expressed joy at the deaths of innocent people who chose the pain of the sidewalk over the pain of the inferno within the WTC.

I would not dispute their right to express their abhorrent views. But I find detestable a culture that rejoices and promotes the death of non-combatants.

They also had the right to develop the terrorism networks within Jenin and other areas. But what I find incredulous is the criticism of the IDF who have the right to seek out and destroy these networks to defend their citizens. By any measure they have acted with great restraint IMO.

We certainly did not take the risky route often to minimize civilian casualties when chasing the Taliban & AL Qaeda through Afghanistan.

So what? They have the right to think things you and I find repugnant without being killed, or harmed in any way. Their right to free speech isn't dependent on the American Constitution, it's an inalienable right of mankind.

Gosh CB.. I can only imagine the storm of protest that would erupt if Israelis were spotted dancing in the streets over any civilian casualties inflicted on the population of the West Bank??

But you say they have the inalienable right to do so, just as the Palestinians have the right to cheer on the WTC attack?

People who care about the rights of others believe that all humans have rights. People who only care about their own rights are on very shaky philosophical ground. If others have no rights, then you have no rights.

And when such people have no respect for other's rights, or even applaud the deaths of thousands, they still deserve our sympathy?

I have to admit that the reaction of Palestinians to the WTC attack has certainly biased my opinion against them as well as any regard for the kind of inalienable rights they readily deny to others.

And I would suspect a good portion of the American public would agree with me.
