Men too must make choices as to where they allocate time and energy between family and work ... sure they can reproduce and have a wife and kids at home while they are constantly out on the hunt, while such a situation traditionally has not been available to women, but hey, who really wants that among those who have thought out what it means

Depends what you mean by misled It is hard to fully comprehend at 20, what it will mean to be alone in your old age if you choose not to have children. I do not believe it is possible to be fully informed about that at an age under 40 or 50, while a person is still in good health. But then it is impossible to be fully informed about the grief children can cause. So either way, we go pretty much blind, imo. Better to have the educated reproducing, imo- perhaps not for their own happiness, but for the advancement of society. If society is capable of advancing, if the educated advance it- which is debatable, and depends on how you define "advancement". I don't care if women are happier not having children, if they are educated, and if they will breed educated offspring, I want them reproducing- not that there is much I can do about that. But if it was in my power, I'd give a nice little tax credit for women with degrees to have children- knowing they would be forfeiting some earning power by having said children, I think it is only fair. Men do not suffer the mommy track reduction in wages- so some equalization is necessary- imo. Of course I'm a radical.
