'I think you're being a little too dismissive of that' - wasn't my intention, only meant to point out that choices must be made by all ... not disputing that Dowd had made a valid point, i think she did, men and women are composed differently and there is gender determined role playing, that's a fact and will likely stay a fact for the foreseeable future imho ... individuals can fudge it one way or the other to varying extent and with varying degree of success, still vive le difference

I think the bitterness in this, to the extent that the Dowd article demonstrates that, is that women had been lead to believe that they could have it all. Some of them bought it.
On behalf of my gender, I enter a plea of "Not Guilty".

Good try at obscuring the facts by use of the passive voice, but no seegar. The correct wording would be
"WOMEN led women to believe they could have it all."
