Yeah, great surfing beaches. I was in Wollongong yesterday giving a seminar at the economcis department of University of Wollongong. The twon is really quite nice with the rainforest clad escarpment closer in and higher than I imagined. Kiama is south of Wollongong at the south end of the Illawarra metropolitan area. Only problem with Illawarra is the huge Port Kembla steelworks, copper smelter etc. right bang in the middle of it. Took the train up the coast back to Sydney and there are some nice spots up there like Stanwell Park which is at the southern end of the Royal National Park (the first national park declared in Australia back in 1900 or whenever) and has a beautiful cover shape beach backed by the escarpment.
