Russel worked for 1o (20?) years on his Principia Mathematica (laying down a self-propelling, bootstrapped methodology to prove everything under the sun), The Gödel (of Gödel Escher Bach) came and proved there's axioms in the standard set theory, that can be neither proven nor disproven. That paradoxes are here to stay. Like "Im from Munich and Münchener are known to be liars". Or "I dont want want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member".
