Is this how you would characterize Israel's recent actions? While I haven't read as much as I should on this subject I believe Israel is being far more selective in its application of military force. Otherwise, the engagements may have proceeded faster (allow no retreat) and with likely less loss of life on the Israeli side (firepower from a distance) and far greater losses among Palestinians.


PT, I actually addressing both the recent US and Israeli military actions although "wholesale bombings" is more reflective of the former than the latter. Nonetheless, I think the Israeli effort is an over kill and is intended mostly to scare and intimidate. Its also easier to drop bombs or to bulldoze buildings with tanks rather than systematically round up the culprits.
