Anyone know what would cause a monitor to just shut it self off any time it felt like it

Sounds like loose cable connection if not some incorrect sleep mode setting either on computer or monitor.
Best bet is to put another monitor in its place as a test.

Re: sleepy Dell monitor.

Power saving mode can do that.

OT Anyone know what would cause a monitor to just shut it self off any time it felt like it???

Bad cable or connector.

I had a Dell SyncMaster (Samsung built) where the connector inside the monitor housing, (where the video cable connects to the monitor), developed a broken solder connection. Dang thing would flick on/off/on/off every time I breathed on the computer table.
