Mani, <Nice to see not all see war as solution to an issue which has for years continued to reject war as an answer.>

What do you mean by "an issue which has for years continued to reject war as an answer"? It seems to me, the issue almost begs for war. That's why the whole world cares so much (much more than, say, some civil war in a Latin American country), because this issue, if left to its own devices, WILL turn into World War III.

I must admit, however, that I once found myself agreeing with conservatives who say that Israel should be given a free hand to deal with terrorism and put an end to all Palestinian resistance. But now I realize why that is an extremely dangerous view to hold. Terrorism or not, this is a powder keg that no one in the free world wants to see blow up. Unfortunately, the bad guys like Hamas and Islamic Jihad do want to see it blow up, literally, and they won't stop trying until they see "paradise" one way or the other. Sharon and the rest of Israel can't help but respond, and no one in Israel has the luxury of thinking things over like we do on an investment forum.

It is refreshing to see both sides of the debate agree with the author of that article. Sorry Albert, but I do believe divine intervention is a much better solution than the human tendency toward all-out war. And if long-term peace and stability were to emerge from this mess, I would take that as evidence that there is a God.
