Dear Charles: Yes, sadly spending is going up but I dont think its fair to blame the Bush administration. Two areas increasing significantly are Defense and Homeland Security (likely new budget line). After 9/11 dont see how we cannot do this. Think of what it cost the country in direct costs associated with 9/11, next time could be even worse if weapons of mass destruction are used. So, what choice do we have? Military has spent all its smart bombs etc and these must be replaced not to mention likely a buildup to face off with Iraq. I specifically recall Bush asking Congress to be careful in other spending as a result of these needs but even there, to be honest, in light of our recession it would not seem that now is the time to tighten up the budget elsewhere to offsett first two considerations. Hopefully, Americans will see it the same as I do as indicated above. jdn
