You may be right. If the study had got started after 2000 it wouldn't have bothered to include RDRAM. But the thesis with the comments on RDRAM definitely includes the date May 2001:

Re: "That could explain a lot of the commentary." Why? PC800 RDRAM hasn't changed significantly since 1999. (The only change I've seen is that there are now parts available with a latency of 40 instead of 45.) It's DDR that has been improving by leaps and bounds with each quarter seeing improved performance.
