Maybe you're right. No sense being paranoid with enough confirmed present dangers to worry about. You have read about Reagan's October Surprise though? Akin to an Iran arms for hostages deal which right-wing Ollie North and various Arab gangster middle-men (CIA assets?) set up. So if our patriotic right can pull that off, you have to wonder what else they might have done for their cause. That said, it's a stretch to think they'd kill dozens of Delta Force just to make Carter look bad. In the shadow world, there are many ironies. Post 9/11, we want our shadow warriors unleashed on the terrorists but there are always some bad apples in that barrel. Or any barrel, I guess.
