Yes, I have always wondered why one should run Java ontop of some downloadable, pushable BREW of binary
code and APIs??

Must be for some serious reasons??

Lars. And, I believe you can do a wireless download of new versions of Java to a QCOM phone. We believe that Sprint is using a Brew layer but only using the Java portion. That is, they are not planning to use the C/C+ language brew apps. So what is the big deal?
