McCain differs with Bush on two important issues - energy/environment and campaign finance reform. Basically McCain was against the whole Enron-Bush Shenanigans. He knew how dishonest it was. The energy industry had given Bush so much money before the race even started that McCain really didn't have a chance. McCain gave Bush the election by stumping for him in New Hampshire where Gore lost by a narrow margin. Afterward he was pretty mad at Bush-Cheney for trying to turn into a dictator and stomp on finance reform the environment.

In the long run McCain comes out the real winner. Bush cheated, gouged us, lied to us and cared only for his cronies. McCain could have saved us from that gouging and massive corruption.

If it weren't for 9/11 I think Bush would be considered a disgrace now by half the people in America. But his critics are still holding their tongues. Can't wait until the full Enron energy crisis stories can come out. Too big a story to come out during the 9/11 era and not good timing. It can wait. But it's typical to see Bush now spouting off about hydrogen cars for the first time. And he refuses to say two words now "Enron" and "oil". He's buffering himself from future attacks. His achilles heel are the energy scandals and he's trying like hell to hide them. Cheney keeps hiding his energy papers. Corruption breeds lies but results in indictments. Cheney will probably be the first to go, and good riddance. I used to admire the guy but what a crook.

Cheney will probably eventually be the sacrificial lamb. But Bush is just as much to blame. Ironically their bed buddies Enron got us campaign finance reform. Good news. We'll see if it works.

The one issue that the Repubs have yet to get correct is the "A" word (just the mention of the word sets the fundmentalists in a tizzy on this board:^).....due to the bible belt crowd.

You really need to be more careful with your propensity to stereotype Ann. How do you describe "fundamentalist?"

I for one am NOT a "fundamentalist". I haven't been to church since my friends husband committed suicide in 93, and she needed someone to go a pray with. There are various reasons why people abhor ABORTION, and those people come from all walks of life. Just as there are people from all walks of life that are pro-choice. I'm not going to get into it with you. We have essentially agreed to disagree, but to place people that are pro-life into your neat little package is unrealistic.
