Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "Authorities in Tunisia maintain that the blast was an accident caused when a truck carrying natural gas went out of control and crashed into the wall surrounding the Griba synagogue on the island of Djerba, bursting into flames as a group of German tourists visited the site."

That does sound like a bit of a fabrication, doesn't it? I don't recall very many natural gas problems associated with trucks. There's been some major blowups with train cars loaded with the stuff, it blows up houses every now and then, and it regularly kills people when pipelines leak, but I don't recall any major disasters associated with trucks.

I suppose that everything eventually happens, but I'm going to assume that this one, happening in front of a synagogue, and with credit taken by the enemy, was enemy action and not happenstance.

Bloody and bloodied Al-Qaeda showing signs of "life"...

<<<...the operation, masterminded by the "the command of the Islamic army for the liberation of holy places."

"This suicide operation is also a reprisal for (Arab) governments' refusal to allow their peoples to launch jihad (holy war) against the Jews," said the text carried by the newspaper.>>

I find most interesting these signs of a possible animosity between the terrorists and the Arab governments.

<And I would be interested if Jochen could give us a read on how the Germans are handling the murder of 10 of their citizens in Tunisia last week.>

According to the German Federal Secretary of the Interior Mr. Schily the blast is probably a terrorist attack. He announced that the German government would prosecute the perpetrators by all legal means. Today German security forces have arrested a man who is thought to be a contact person for the terrorists.

KARSRUHE, Germany (Reuters) - German authorities have arrested a man for alleged involvement in last week's explosion at a synagogue in Tunisia that killed 16 people, the federal prosecutors office said Tuesday.

The man, who was not named, is believed to have had contact with an attacker based in Tunisia shortly before the explosion which killed 10 Germans on the island of Djerba last Thursday.

German authorities believe the explosion was a deliberate attack rather than an accident as Tunisian authorities insist.
