Juniper Networks and Ericsson Help Build Guangxi Provincial IP Network

Guangxi Mobile to Provide Voice, Data, and Multimedia IP Services with Juniper Networks M-series Routers

Sunnyvale, CA - April 16, 2002 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, today announced a contract win in partnership with Ericsson for Guangxi Mobile Communications Company. Guangxi Mobile is using Juniper Networks systems to build the mobile edge and backbone IP network for eight cities in the province. Guangxi Mobile is the latest subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corp. (China Mobile) to deploy Juniper Networks M-series routers.

Under this new contract, Guangxi Mobile is deploying both Juniper Networks M160 and M20 Internet routers. Juniper Networks M-series routers offer both mobile edge and backbone IP delivery of up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) using the Internet Processor II ASIC. Juniper Networks M-series routers also enable Guangxi Mobile to cost-effectively scale provincial networks to meet immense and growing bandwidth and IP service requirements. For intelligent mobile Internet services today and tomorrow, provincial subscribers will use this new network for both 2.5G and 3G networking. The Guangxi Mobile network initially delivers 2.5G General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) mobile services simultaneously with a variety of data, voice and multimedia applications.

In the Guangxi Mobile contract, Juniper Networks worldwide distribution partner, Ericsson, will also supply extensive customer services such as installation, system support and hardware replacement services. Installation of the equipment is planned for the end of April 2002.
