Hi BigBull; Re: "Were American troops welcomed in Berlin and Tokyo?"

(1) Did the Palestinians invade France or China? (I realize that implication of this rhetorical question is subject to debate. The question is whether or not it is possible to invade the place that you were born.)

(2) Did the US rebuild Germany and Japan, welcome them as friends and allies, and use their assistance to make the world a better place?

But we really don't have to get into the morality of the Israeli / Palestinian conflict. In fact, it's quite pointless. Neither Israel nor Palestine is going to budge an inch based on arguments over morality. It's a waste of breath.

For the United States, the real question now is the morality of our continuing to ship weapons to the parties to the conflict. To decide that shipping weapons is wrong requires a much lower level of assurance than to decide one side is more or less righteous than the other. The question for us is "do our shipping weapons to the Israelis assist us in our foreign policy goals?"

The Germans were much happier to see us than they were to see the Russians. You see, the Nazis treated the Russians horribly when they invaded Russia, and when the Russians got their chance, paybacks are hell.
