Actually many democrats (and republicans) really DO care about wild-life and wild-lands preservation. If ANWAR falls to drillers, then the entire state of Alaska might as well be owned by Big Oil (ie the Houston gang). Half of it already is. I have a friend who tried to run in Alaska for congress. Big Oil sabotaged his campaign with dirty tricks, threatened his life and nearly drove him out of town. It's like the old west with the railroad barons and their hired guns. The only thing stopping Big Oil in Alaska is the people of the lower 48 electing congressmen and Senators who care about something other than fast bucks and looting precious resources. I am particularly sensitive about it because the most wonderful summer of my life I spend onm wilderness expeditions in the late 70's exactly where the Exxon Valdez dumped its terrible load. That was one of God's greatest creations up there, just teeming with wild-life.Untouched by man. Now it's tainted, precious salmon runs are down and long-term damage can be seen everywhere. Exxon paid a huge fine but you cannot buy back pristine wilderness. It has no price. This is something those on the right don't seem to be able to grasp. Also, remember "This land is our land", not theirs. Don't let them have it. They are liars and thieves.
