What about Arafat? A known terrorist who's PLO has been guilty of international crimes in any number of different countries. A guy who's uncle was a Nazi collaborator/conspirator, and personal friend of Adolf Hitler/Eichman, and who's recruiting for the Waffen SS is, in part, responsible for the killing of 90% of Yugoslavia's Jewish population??

Sharon's a general, and a conservative one... Someone who will answer the call to defend the state when asked. If the Israeli people weren't so frightened and disgusted about their lack of security (the very reason they are in the West Bank to begin with after being invaded in 1967), Peres would likely be in office. It was only because of the Labor party's inability to get Arafat to commit to a peace process that Netanyahu, Barak and Sharon were elected. Peres couldn't halt the terror, so the Israelis have become just as reactionary as American's became after 9/11.

Americans, with you obviously as the notable exception, could really care less how many muslim extremists we have to kill in order to get "our old lives back".. And the Israelis are no different. And if a few "innocents" are killed in the process, while unfortunate, it's something that can't realistically be avoided.. The responsibility falls upon their leadership which created such a situation in the first place.
