Like who?

Well, the most prominent spokesperson who has used such language recently was Pat Robertson.

I assume you've not spent much time in the South attending church, going to the country club, hanging out at the balls, hitting the Chambers of Commerce, etc. These folk wind up in the churches of the south, the politically active ones support the Ralph Reeds of the world, etc. It's also the culture that could lead Billy Graham to hit it off very well with Nixon's anti-semitic language of three decades ago. That's still around.

I agree with the last paragraph, however.

Nadine...I live in the heartland of Christian fundamentalism. Your assessment is very accurate.

I would add, however, that fundamentalists as a group tend not to be inclusive....meaning they are polite and say the right things, but don't actually warm to Jews, blacks, and ethnic groups in general.

I'm not aware of much anti-Semitism at all coming from the Christian fundamentalists.

Another point of view:

"However, perhaps the most insidious, dangerous, and hateful anti-Semitism is more subtle, less easy to spot, less provoking of criticism. This type of anti-Semitism is societally condoned. It can be characterized as "affectionate, compassionate anti-Semitism". I am speaking of the evangelical Christians, particularly the Baptists, who are attempting to LOVE US TO DEATH.

<snip>

"The attempts to erode Judaism through the missionary work described above is perhaps the most dangerous form of anti-Semitism present in the United States today. "

Many on the Christian right see their relationships with Jews soley in light of the opportunity to convert them.

Meanwhile, on the Christian left, there seems to be a growing sympathy for the Palestinian cause.
