No News Crew let in there - DJ. US,UK,Afghan Forces In 1st Large Operation Since Anaconda

(and for sure no "MASACRES" )

BAGRAM, Afghanistan (AP)--In the first large-scale combat mission in Afghanistan since Operation Anaconda, hundreds of U.K., U.S. and Afghan soldiers are in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan to wipe out al-Qaida and
Taliban forces believed hiding there, coalition officials said Tuesday.

Spokesman Lt. Col. Paul Harradine said the allied soldiers are in an area "that was formerly known as an al-Qaida and Taliban base." He didn't elaborate further on the troops' location.

"They're going to sweep through, destroy any al-Qaida and Taliban that are there and then deny the group control of that area," he said.

The mission, which began several days ago, was announced Tuesday at Bagram air base. It marked the official start of combat operations for the main U.K. fighting force - 45 Commando of the Royal Marines. British troops have been operating in smaller groups since last fall, but the bulk of their 1,700 combat troops have arrived in Afghanistan in recent weeks.

Thank you, that clearly violates the doctrine of the thread.
