Is your goal to ensure he doesn't do it again? Or to satisfy the bloodlust of the public? His victims are dead and past caring. I think the incremental risk associated with life-without-possibility-of-parole is not much higher than death penalty which can be (and has been) misapplied. Juries are given cases by prosecutors (who are government officials). Prosecutors probably aren't generally faking evidence, but there are many cases where they didn't produce evidence that would have undermined their case. Now public defenders (also potentially government or contract employees) are frequently not all that qualified or able to defend their clients. It is a bad system.
