Apr 16 2002 8:03 AM In Play Advanced Micro feeling price pressure from Intel: Merrill (AMD) 13.50: Merrill Lynch notes that Intel (INTC) cut microprocessor prices 10-30% last weekend; says this was expected and should be viewed in terms of mix shifts rather than simple percentage price reductions; Merrill is concerned, however, that the price cuts will place significant pressure on AMD; saying that manufacturing efficiencies at AMD are not improving as rapidly as at INTC and that INTC should therefore continue to enjoy a short-term competitive advantage.
