About 20 years ago the big Catholic (all-male) high school down the road decided to extend "scholarships" to some inner-city kids under the banner of racial diversity. Turns out all the scholarship recipients were either 6-foot-6 or could run a 4.5-second 40. Ha ha. An early form of vouchers.

Lemme try one more time: If suburban schools were forced to accept inner-city kids under a voucher program, there would be massive right-wing outrage in this country.

Why? Because people move to the 'burbs to escape problems, not to deal with them!

It's as simple as that.

How soon we forget: Eighteen months ago 70 percent of voters in both Michigan and California said NO! to a statewide voucher program.

Seven out of 10 voters said let's improve our public schools instead of screwing with vouchers.

The public is NOT in favor of vouchers, yet GWB and his cronies feel compelled to ram 'em down our throats as payback for the religious conservative vote in November 2000.
