Palestinians are unfortunately hobbled by a leader and allies that care nothing for their future but only for the strategy of demonising Israel for all the failures of the Arab world autocracies. They deserve better but are not able to unhitch themselves from leaders who have twisted some into a mind-set that promotes the suicide of children. The desperate thing about this kind of thinking is ever believing you can find your way back from it and achieve peace. The well-spring of youth, the only hope of these people, is poisoned, probably for a decade or more. Arafat's longing to be a martyr is the cruelest joke of all, equaled by his wife's empty rhetoric about the joy of sacrificing the son they do not have.
